Aasma girl Neeti Mohan releases debut single “Ja Ja”

Almost two years after her bandmate Vasuda Sharma made her wonderful but unfortunate debut with Shahrukh Bola.., Neeti Mohan has decided to try her hand at composing+lyrics writing, and launched her debut single earlier this week. The minimally orchestrated, melancholic melody is called Ja Ja and has a video featuring the lady herself. While the singer is flawless in her soulful and classically nuanced rendition, the piano stands out in the background, complementing her beautifully. Only two peeves about the whole thing – Neeti got a lovely hook going in the song, but she doesn’t deviate much from that throughout, I would have been happier with a bit more variation. That hook is a winner though, it will have you “hooked”. And secondly, no credits for the pianist and other instrumentalists in the video.

That apart, very promising debut this. Looking forward to more from Neeti. You can watch the video below.

PS: Neeti informed me after reading this post that all instruments barring the guitar which she played, have been done by the music producer Kaizad. Good job there! Another trivia – Brij Mohan Sharma, who has co-written the lyrics, is Neeti’s dad.
