Back To The Roots: IndiEarth At The Park
Music with roots that run deep, music of eras and cultures of the past, kept alive by contemporary artists – this is the theme of the next edition of IndiEarth At The Park, IndiEarth’s monthly independent gig series. Two remarkable artists will take to the stage on Saturday, 4th of October at The Park Chennai, paying homage to age old musical traditions reinterpreted in a contemporary context. These two artists are Karthick Iyer and Dakta Dub.
Karthick Iyer is known for his classical Carnatic rooted music, but interpreted with global influences that are characteristic of his individuality and unique style. His poetic touch and intrinsic ability to emote on the violin has pulled at the heart strings of audiences all across the country. He will take to the Lobby Stage with his band at 8:30 pm.
After a soulful start to the evening, DJ Dakta Dub gets set to tear the dance floor to shreds at the Leather Bar with a revival of old school reggae and dub music. A frequent performer at the NH7 Weekender, Dakta Dub also runs his own indie radio station called Monkey Radio, and organises monthly underground dance music nights called Bass Sanskriti. He now gets set to bring his underground bass vibes to the Chennai massive!
