Blues Conscience – Live at The Purple Fest
“Sittin’ on my porch and shaggin’ my dog” croons Anek Ahuja – lead singer of blues/rock band Blues Conscience. Well, that’s one way to spend a Friday evening. The other option is to come out to The Purple Fest. The fest happens twice a month in Chennai and features a diverse line up of alter-indie rockers and eclectic musicians, who take to the stage on a beautiful breezy terrace where the beer flows as freely as the music. The IndiEarth crew was there, armed with our cameras, and we caught the show live on film.
Instead of sticking to traditional blues, Blues Conscience have their own take on the genre, combining other elements/musical styles to create a sound that is closer to blues-pop-jazz-rock, than pure blues. Having just released their debut album Down and Dirty, their gig arsenal that night included a collection of brand new tracks from the album, old Blues Conscience favourites, and a few classic blues covers. The energy that night was at an all time high, as were the spirits – relive the music by clicking on the link below to check out the guys live in action.
