News: Indie filmmaker favourite Vimeo blocked in India

Access to Vimeo has been blocked along with a host of other video and torrent sharing sites following court orders from the Madras High Court.

Vimeo can no longer be used to upload and share films or videos, a site most popular amongst the Indie Filmmakers. This court order came into effect on 29th March 2012 when telecommunication service providers such as Airtel, Reliance, BSNL and Vodafone to name a few, blocked their users’ access to such video sharing sites via mobile phones.Interestingly, all of these sites are still accessible on BSNL Bangalore, however, MTNL Delhi has only blocked Torrentz.eu and DailyMotion. It has been reported that MTNL Mumbai has also blocked major torrent sites.

Today, as it stands, general access to the site via internet has been blocked as well.
