IndiEarth At The Park: A Starry Summer Night

“It was great playing in Chennai again! It was probably the hottest gig we’ve played in terms of temperature!”

Certainly not an understatement when referring to Chennai in the month of May. Under the stars at Aqua of The Park Chennai, on a particularly sultry summer night, Nischay Parekh and Jivraj Singh shared their poetic musical musings with an open and attentive crowd gathered around the poolside. “We played a lot of our newer material along with our older things,” Nischay told IndiEarth after the gig, referring to tracks from his debut album Ocean, and also alluding to a host of fresh material that the Kolkata based duo have brewing at the moment. “Jivraj Singh and I are going to begin recording an album,” he revealed. “It’s a sort of a sequel to Ocean. However, in a way, it’s also the first time that Jivraj and myself will be co-producing an album of music. Exciting times!”

SleepwalkerWhile up above the mood was mellow and musical, down below at the Leather Bar things got a little heated. DJ Sleepwalker from Pondicherry spun an electronic web of different sounds from the dance music space. “Since I played a 5-hour set, I started with some slow (105bpm) chunky sounds which are easy to feel and dance to, then gradually moved towards my usual mix of Cosmic Disco, Acid House, managed to squeeze in some breaks and closed with grungy tech grooves.” The Sleepwalker aka Shantanu Ghosh, who resides in Pondicherry, is currently finishing his first EP that should be released by the end of the year. “The EP is based on two main factors,” he told IndiEarth, “how people move or dance, and what people feel or see with closed eyes.”

The line up for the next IndiEarth At The Park will be revealed shortly – stay tuned to this space to know more!
