IndiEarth XChange 2012 – All About The Artists
IndiEarth XChange brings you music from India, the Indian Ocean region and beyond. This 3 day think – tank event will focus of on the non-mainstream industry and collaborations, to pave the way for the development of the independent music scenario in the region.
The music festival, will showcase a host of artists representing countries like France, The Reunion Islands, Australia and The United Kingdoms, with a mix of artists from India.
Sing Sing
AUSTRALIA / FIJI
Wantok Musik Foundations – Sing Sing, from Papua-New Guinea, Australia, Fiji and Oceania, is a musical gathering where tribes and villages share their dance and song. Sing Sing will perform on Sunday 2nd December at the Sansara Stage – Park Hotel, Chennai.
Nathalie Natiembe
REUNION ISLAND
Nathalie Natiembé is a phenomenon. She uses her voice like no one else through multiple influences and crossbred sounds. She is immersed in jazz, reggae and rock too and mingles the latter with her maloya. Nathalie will perform Friday 30th November, at the Sansara Stage – Park Hotel, Chennai.
Gwyneth Glyn and Tauseef Akhtar
UK / INDIA
Fusing guitar and harmonium and the Urdu music tradition Gazal, with its strictly metered poetic lyrics, and the ancient folk poetry of Wales’ Hen Benillion for the first time ever, Mumbai based musician, Tauseef Akhtar, and Welsh musician and poet, Gwyneth Glyn, are bringing to life a new shared voice and sound.Also performing with them, are Georgia Ruth (UK) on the Harp, Sanjoy on guitar, Ashish on tabla and Manas on violin. Gwyneth and group, will perform Sunday December 2nd, at the Sansara Stage – Park Hotel, Chennai.
Rizwan & Muazzam
PAKISTAN
Nephews of Ustad Nusrat Fateh ali Khan, Rizwan-Muazzam come from a direct line of Qawwali vocal music that spans over five centuries. Their inventive reinterpretations of spiritual love songs are based upon classical Islamic and Sufi texts. Rizwan & Muazzam will perform Saturday the 1st of December, at the Sansara Stage – Park Hotel, Chennai.
