iTunes Arrives in India
Today, iTunes entered the Indian market allowing its Indian users to browse and buy both Indian and International music and films from its online store. This comes as great news for iTunes users who have until now been able to access only free music and content from the store, without being able to purchase albums or singles through iTunes in India.
Artists who’ve opted for worldwide digital distribution through IndiEarth will soon see their Albums / Singles also on the iTunes India store.
Prices for singles purchased on iTunes start as low as INR 7 – 15 which seems like a steal when compared to a global average rate of approximately 99 cents per single; while whole albums can be purchased for as little as INR 70.
This apart, iTunes Match too, has entered the country, allowing users to collect and store their music from CD’s, DVD’s and alternative sources – or your entire music library – on iCloud, which can then be accessed from any of your IOS devices, anywhere in the world. Apple provides this service at a fee of INR 1200 per year.
