Lights, Camera, IndiEarth On Screen!
Ladies, gentleman and all lovers of independent cinema – IndiEarth On Screen is back this week in two brand new locations, and two different cities! We are excited to bring you the best of indie cinema, in cozy quaint locations that promise to inspire cinema lovers as much as the films themselves. The first screening will be held at Amethyst Cafe in Chennai – a quirky little coffee shop surrounded by lush green and characterized by a certain Parisian charm. The second is The Humming Tree in Bangalore – a brand new performance space for musicians and artists alike.
“I am really excited about the screening“, says filmmaker Aniket Dasgupta, who will be screening his docu-fiction film Our Friend Juanaid, “we’ve seen an explosion of indie-music events of late – it’s about time non-mainstream films and distinct voices from the indie filmmaking scene get an exhibition space beyond the realms of elitist festivals and private screenings. There are so many films out there waiting to be watched. More importantly, some of them need to be watched”.
“We have been holding regular screenings in Chennai in an attempt to showcase the wide range of talented independent filmmakers we have here in India”, says Sonya Mazumdar of IndiEarth, an initiative of EarthSync, “the purpose of IndiEarth On Screen is to share and spread Indian independent cinema across the country, branching out to other cities starting with Bangalore for a greater reach”.
