Live From The Purple Fest
A space to express oneself, and a stage to share one’s music – is that too much to ask? We don’t think so. Enter: The Purple Fest. Chennai Live FM in partnership with IndiEarth, Clementine Studios, and Rolling Stone Magazine have been putting on a show, twice a month, featuring a solid line up of indie musicians and attended by the city’s music aficionados and music lovers alike. Last week, it was the boys with the blues – Blues Conscience – tearing up the stage. The next gig, happening this Friday, June 14th, will feature the F16’s – an up and coming indie rock act featuring Joshua Fernandez, Vikram Yesudas, Harshan Radakrishnan, Viraj Yesudas and Sashank Manohar.
Each week, the IndiEarth crew have been filming the gigs for a brand new video series – IndiEarth Out There – Live From The Purple Fest. The series is intended to act as a platform for indie artists, and is filmed recreate the feel of actually being entrenched in the throws of a live performance – up close, personal, and in your face. The audio is recorded by Clementine Studios’ mobile rig – a portable setup designed to record music and live performances, on the go.
We caught up with Purple Fest gig goers to see what they had to say about the show that promises to paint Chennai city purple. Check out the the video below, which also features a killer performance by Chennai based alt ragin’ garage rockers Skrat.
