Music in Montreal: Osheaga + MEG Pro

Montreal, Canada – a cultural hub and summertime heaven for all things music, film and art.  And this week, the city bursts at the seams with sonic goodness as Osheaga + MEG Pro takes over – a gathering that brings together key members of the music industry and hosts a series of showcase performances by some of the biggest names and finest talent of the music industry.

Founded in 2010, Osheaga + MEG Pro is a union of the two festivals – the indie music oriented Osheaga Music and Arts festival, which takes place annually in Parc Jean Drapeau – and the long running electronica fest MEG (Montreal Electronique Groove), founded in 1999, entering its sixteenth edition this year. The entire event brings together agents, managers, festivals, promoters, publicists of the industry all in one space to engage in a series of networking activities, and to witness spectacular showcase performances.

Taking place from July 31^st – August 3^rd  this year, the line up will include names like Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Arctic Monkeys,  Outkast, Skrillex, Jack White, Lorde, Modest Mouse, Flume, London Grammar amongst many others. One of the event’s objectives is also to discover local and emerging talent by giving them the opportunity to play alongside some of the biggest names in the business– a heavy duty line up that has included in past editions names like Coldplay, Sonic Youth, Arcade Fire, Iggy & The Stooges, Rufus Wainwright and many others.
