Off The Record – And the Winners Are….
Drumroll please!
And the winners of our Off The Record artist competition are…
Lagori from Bangalore, and Jeepers Creepers from Kolkata! These two artists have won themselves free recording/mixing/mastering sessions at Clementine Studio, free worldwide digital distribution of their track, as well as a free upload onto IndiEarth for world Media review! The track will be mixed and mastered exclusively by Yotam Agam of EarthSync.
“It feels great to have won IndiEarth’s ‘Off The Record'”, says Geeth Vaz, lead guitarist of Lagori, “IndiEarth has been doing great supporting independent artists in India. So Lagori is excited to be associated with them”. The band is a folk/rock/fusion act, blending Indian Classical elements with modern contemporary rock textures. Their winning track – Boom Shankar – brings together these two worlds with a refreshing dose of spunk and soul, and can be listened to here.
Jeepers Creepers are an alternative/post punk/indie rock band from Kolkata whose lead vocalist Ananda Mitra echoed this enthusiasm, saying “We’re really happy to have won this competition, and look forward to recording at Clementine! We’re thinking of recording a track called The Cheesemonger when we’re there”. Their winning entry – She Digs a Whippersnapper – is a quirky upbeat ballad to Betty Botter, and can be listened to here.
We’d like to also take the time to thank all the musicians who submitted their entries – with all the incredible entries, you really made our job of picking a winner tough (but reaffirmed our belief in the amazing indie talent that’s out there). Stay tuned to this space for more artist opportunities like this one – next time around it could be you we crown winner!
In the meantime, a big congratulations to Lagori and Jeepers Creepers!
