The Spirit of Independence: IndiEarth At The Park
The Fourth of July – it may be Independence Day in the United States of America, but here in Chennai we’re celebrating the independent spirit in a slightly different way: with a tribute to independent music. The upcoming edition of IndiEarth At The Park this Saturday July 4th features two independent acts with two drastically different sounds, coming together for one night of pure sonic exploration.
Madley Blues – consisting of Harish Venkat and Prashanth Techno – came together to explore new dimensions of sound, and found themselves at the cross roads between different traditions, genres and forms of music that they brought together into one creative space. The act has also collaborated with the likes of M. S. Viswanathan, Shankar Mahadevan, Vijay Prakash, Nandini Srikar, Mili Nair, Chinmayi, Jai Row Kavi, Keba Jeremiah, Josh Mark Raj, and Keith Peters and will be performing at the Lobby Stage of The Park Chennai at 9pm.
Shifting spaces to the more electronic side of the sound spectrum is SHFT_, a Delhi based DJ/Producer who spins a mean blend of house and techno, influenced by strong grooves and hypnotic elements. His mixes are intended to not just make you dance, but also give you ample space to think – creating sounds that are abstract and futuristic. He will hit the decks at the Leather Bar at 10:30 PM.
